What our support team handles day to day
Our support line is there for the jobs that cannot wait and the checks that keep a system going before it fails. We handle planned maintenance, emergency breakdowns, cold room repairs, chiller servicing, leak detection and temperature monitoring for sites in Gqeberha, Uitenhage, Despatch, Jeffreys Bay, Graaff-Reinet and Port Alfred.
If you are dealing with product loss, rising power use or repeated faults after load-shedding, we help sort the cause and the follow-up work. That can mean coil cleaning, control upgrades, sensor checks or a low-GWP gas conversion where the plant and operating conditions allow it.
How to log a fault with us
When something goes wrong, send the basics first so we can respond properly. The more accurate the detail, the quicker we can send the right technician and parts.
- Site name and suburb or town
- Contact person and mobile number
- Equipment type and size, if known
- What the fault is doing now, and when it started
- Any alarms, temperature readings or strange noise
- Whether there was a power cut, trip or recent service
Email hello@nvirocool.co.za and include a photo if you can. For cold rooms, a quick note on stored stock and target temperature helps us judge the urgency.
Breakdowns, after-hours risk and what we prioritise
We know a failed chiller or warm cold room can put stock, staff and schedules under pressure fast. That is why our team looks first at product risk, safety and whether the fault is causing further damage.
Our technicians focus on practical steps first, not guesswork. We check power supply, controls, gas charge, airflow, defrosting and compressor behaviour, then decide if the issue can be corrected on site or needs a planned follow-up. If a site is near the coast, we also look at corrosion, blocked coils and moisture related wear because those issues show up often in humid conditions.
Maintenance support for busy sites
Preventive care is usually cheaper than emergency callouts. For food stores, wholesalers, warehouses and production sites, we can set up a maintenance schedule that fits operating hours and local conditions.
- Monthly or quarterly inspections
- Coil and condenser cleaning
- Door seals and insulation checks
- Control and probe verification
- Temperature trend review
- Energy use checks and basic reporting
If your site has regular power interruptions, we can also look at restart behaviour and control settings so the plant recovers safely after an outage or brownout.
Energy-saving upgrades and low-GWP conversions
Support is not only about fixing faults. Many clients ask us to cut running costs, reduce leaks or move away from older refrigerants. Ruan Smit leads retrofit projects, while Nokulunga Dlamini handles energy audits and efficiency findings.
Depending on the system, we can advise on low-GWP gas conversions, control upgrades, fan and coil improvements, and chiller retrofit work that lowers wasted power. We keep the advice tied to the actual plant and the way it is used, because a good fix in one site may not suit another. That approach matters in the Eastern Cape, where some sites run hard in summer and then sit under lighter loads during winter.
Local support from Newton Park
Our base is in Newton Park, Gqeberha, with support across the metro and surrounding towns. The team includes Ayabulela Ndlovu, Leanne Petersen, Siyabonga Mthembu, Ruan Smit, Nokulunga Dlamini and Yolanda Jacobs, with Anele Mbeki-Jacobs leading the business since 2011.
You will usually deal with Yolanda first for client care, then Ayabulela for scheduling and updates. We keep communication plain and timely, because when a cold room is down or a chiller is drawing too much power, people need clear answers not a long story.
