Why our people matter on site
Refrigeration work is not only about tools and gas. It depends on quick calls, clean handovers, steady follow-up and knowing how a system behaves in a fish room, a butcher store or a distribution site when the power flickers. Our team is set up to handle planned maintenance, emergency breakdowns and retrofit work with the same practical approach, whether the job is in Gqeberha, Uitenhage, Despatch, Jeffreys Bay, Graaff-Reinet or Port Alfred.
We also understand local pressures that affect plant life in the Eastern Cape, from coastal humidity to load-shedding and the need to keep compliance records in order. That is why the office team and the technical team work closely together, so nothing gets lost between the first call and the final sign-off.
The people you will speak to first
Ayabulela Ndlovu, Service Co-ordinator, keeps the day moving. He books breakdown calls, lines up maintenance visits and makes sure the right technician arrives with the right parts. When a customer phones in with a warm room or a tripping chiller, Ayabulela is usually the calm voice getting the details down and arranging the next step, often before the problem has had time to spread.
Yolanda Jacobs, Client Care Administrator, handles the admin side with care. She follows up job cards, keeps customer records in order and helps clients get the paperwork they need for service histories and compliance checks. Her work makes it easier for site managers and owners to track what has been done and what still needs attention.
Technical hands on the equipment
Siyabonga Mthembu, Senior Refrigeration Technician, brings years of site experience to cold rooms, display units and chiller systems. He is the person who can trace a fault on a busy trading day, test the circuit properly and get to the root cause instead of just resetting a system and hoping for the best. He works carefully on leak detection, temperature monitoring and control upgrades, and he knows how to deal with stubborn faults that come and go.
Ruan Smit, Retrofit Project Lead, manages low-GWP conversions and energy-saving chiller retrofits. He plans the changeover so the site can keep trading where possible, and he keeps an eye on pipework, controls, charge levels and commissioning. Ruan is also the one who thinks ahead about downtime, access and how a retrofit will affect the business once the new setup is running.

Energy use, maintenance and the numbers
Nokulunga Dlamini, Energy Audit Specialist, looks at how systems are using power and where savings can be made without putting product at risk. She checks runtime patterns, maintenance records and site behaviour, then helps shape a plan that fits the building and the budget. On many sites a few small changes, like cleaner coils or better set points, can cut wasted energy more than people expect. It is practical work, not guesswork.
Her reports are especially useful for clients trying to manage rising electricity costs or ageing equipment. She also helps identify where poor maintenance is pushing a unit harder than it should, which means less strain on compressors and better control during high summer demand.
How our team works across the Eastern Cape
Our team is based in Newton Park, Gqeberha, and we travel across the Eastern Cape for repairs, servicing and project work. That includes schools, food sites, retail stores, warehouses and light industrial premises that need steady refrigeration support through the year. We plan maintenance around site hours where we can, and we keep communication clear when a breakdown needs after-hours attention.
Each person in the team has a clear role, but the work stays connected. A maintenance visit may lead to a coil cleaning, then a leak check, then a control issue that needs attention. Because we look at the full system, not just the fault in front of us, clients get a better outcome and fewer repeat call-outs.
Leadership with a practical eye
Anele Mbeki-Jacobs, Managing Director, leads Nvirocool with a focus on reliable service and better energy use. Since 2011, the business has grown by staying close to customers and by treating refrigeration as a long term asset, not a quick fix. Anele keeps the team aligned on service standards, response times and the kind of honest communication clients expect when equipment is under pressure.
That approach shapes the whole business. From emergency breakdowns in Gqeberha to planned maintenance in Jeffreys Bay, the goal is the same: keep temperatures steady, protect stock and help clients avoid unnecessary costs. A good team makes that possible, and ours knows the value of doing the job properly the first time.
