About us

Nvirocool was founded in 2011 to support businesses that depend on steady temperatures, lower power use and fewer breakdowns. From our Newton Park base in Gqeberha, we work across the Eastern Cape with practical refrigeration and cooling services that suit local conditions.

About us

Built in Gqeberha for real working conditions

Nvirocool started in 2011 with a simple idea: refrigeration and cooling systems should work for the people who rely on them, not create more problems for them. In Gqeberha, where coastal humidity, salt air and load-shedding all put pressure on equipment, that means looking beyond a quick repair and thinking about how a system will behave next week, next summer and next year.

From our Newton Park base, we support businesses in Gqeberha, Uitenhage, Despatch, Jeffreys Bay, Graaff-Reinet and Port Alfred. We work on cold rooms, chillers, temperature monitoring, leak detection and control upgrades for sites that need dependable service and clear communication. Whether it is a food store, a warehouse, a production site or a hospitality venue, we keep the focus on keeping product safe and operating costs under control.

Over the years we have learned that good refrigeration service is not only about technical skill. It is also about turning up when promised, giving straight answers and helping clients plan around shutdowns, holidays, peak trading and municipal restrictions. That approach is still central to how we work today.

What matters to us on every site visit

Our work is guided by four practical values: accountability, efficiency, care and long-term thinking. We keep records, explain findings clearly and recommend what will help now as well as what will save trouble later. If a system is wasting power, losing gas or cycling badly, we want the client to understand why and what the options are.

We also believe in doing the job properly the first time. That means checking the full system, not only the symptom. A room that runs warm may need a valve replacement, but it could also point to dirty coils, poor air flow, a control fault or a door seal problem. We treat each site with that broader view because it saves time and money in the long run.

  • Practical advice based on site conditions, usage patterns and budget
  • Clear reporting with photos, readings and next-step recommendations
  • Respect for food safety, stock protection and business hours
  • Work planned around live operations where possible

We are also careful with compliance. From temperature records to safe handling of refrigerants, we know the value of working in line with industry expectations and the needs of each facility. That attention matters whether the site is in the city, near the coast or inland where heat and dust can be hard on equipment.

The people behind the work

Nvirocool is led by MD Anele Mbeki-Jacobs, with a team that covers the day-to-day detail and the technical side of the business. Ayabulela Ndlovu coordinates service calls and keeps jobs moving. Leanne Petersen manages accounts and billing with care. Siyabonga Mthembu handles senior refrigeration work, from fault-finding to repairs. Ruan Smit leads retrofit projects and equipment upgrades. Nokulunga Dlamini carries out energy audits and helps clients identify waste. Yolanda Jacobs supports client care and keeps communication steady from first call to final sign-off.

That mix matters because refrigeration work often needs more than one kind of attention. A breakdown may need a technician on site, but it also needs scheduling, parts planning, follow-up and a clear paper trail. We work as a team so clients are not left repeating the same details to different people.

Our office and service base in Newton Park makes it easier to respond across Gqeberha and nearby towns. We know that some calls are urgent, especially when stock is at risk or a system has gone down after hours. In those moments, being organised counts just as much as technical know-how.

  • Service co-ordination from first call through to completion
  • Technical support for both planned work and emergency breakdowns
  • Client communication that keeps site managers informed
  • Energy-focused reporting for upgrade and retrofit decisions

How we approach maintenance and repairs

We look after planned maintenance, emergency breakdowns, cold room repairs, chiller servicing, coil cleaning, control upgrades and temperature monitoring. In practice, that often means building a maintenance plan around how the site operates, how often doors open, what temperatures must be held and how much downtime can be tolerated. A small fish supplier in Jeffreys Bay needs a different schedule from a distribution site in Uitenhage or a clinic in Port Alfred, and we work accordingly.

Maintenance is not only about preventing failure. It also helps systems use less electricity, which is a real concern when tariffs rise and load-shedding interrupts normal running. Dirty coils, weak controls and unnoticed leaks can push a system hard long before it stops completely. We try to pick up those issues early, then fix them before they become expensive emergencies.

When repairs are needed, we aim to be clear about what failed, why it failed and what should be watched afterwards. If there is a recurring issue, we say so. If a component can be restored and monitored rather than replaced immediately, we will say that too. Honest advice is part of the service.

Why low-GWP conversions and energy work matter

Many clients are looking for ways to reduce energy use without compromising performance. That is where low-GWP gas conversions, energy audits and retrofit work come in. We help businesses move toward refrigerants and system changes that are better aligned with current environmental expectations while keeping the plant suitable for daily use.

A conversion is never just about changing gas. We review system condition, controls, leak history, temperature needs and operating habits before suggesting the best route. In some cases, a retrofit can deliver better results than replacing the whole plant. In others, the smart move is to correct hidden losses first, then upgrade in stages. Nokulunga Dlamini’s audits help identify where electricity is being wasted, and Ruan Smit turns those findings into practical projects on site.

This is especially useful for businesses running older equipment in warm, humid or dusty conditions. A system that works on paper can still underperform if airflow is poor, sensors drift or the plant room is not maintained. We take those details seriously because they often make the difference between a system that merely runs and one that runs properly.

  • Low-GWP conversions planned around site needs and equipment condition
  • Energy audits that look at controls, usage patterns and running costs
  • Retrofits that reduce waste without unnecessary downtime
  • Leak detection and follow-up checks to protect performance

How we work with clients across the Eastern Cape

We prefer to work in a straightforward way. First we listen, then we assess, then we recommend what needs to happen. Some clients need a one-off fix. Others need a maintenance partner who can keep records, follow up and help them plan for the next season. We are set up to do both.

Because we work across the Eastern Cape, we are used to different site conditions and different business pressures. Coastal towns often deal with corrosion and humidity, while inland sites may face dust, temperature swings and longer response distances. We factor that into our advice so the solution suits the location, not just the equipment on the drawing board.

If a site needs temperature monitoring, we help keep an eye on the numbers so problems are caught early. If a cold room door is dragging, a control is drifting, or a chiller is working harder than it should, we would rather address it early than wait for a failure. That way clients can keep trading with less disruption and fewer surprises.

Nvirocool exists to keep refrigeration practical, efficient and manageable for Eastern Cape businesses. We are not interested in overcomplicating things. We are interested in getting the job done well, keeping communication open and helping clients protect stock, reduce waste and run better systems over time.

Questions we get asked

Which areas does Nvirocool cover?

We work from Gqeberha and support clients in Uitenhage, Despatch, Jeffreys Bay, Graaff-Reinet and Port Alfred, along with surrounding Eastern Cape areas where refrigeration support is needed.

Do you handle both maintenance and breakdowns?

Yes. We do planned maintenance, emergency breakdowns, cold room repairs, chiller servicing and follow-up checks so clients can keep operations steady.

What makes your energy work different?

We look at the full system, including controls, leaks, coil condition and running habits. That helps us recommend low-GWP conversions, energy-saving retrofits and practical changes that suit the site.
