Need a refrigeration technician at short notice or a scheduled visit for service work? Book a call-out with Nvirocool for cold rooms, chillers and cooling systems across Gqeberha and the Eastern Cape. We handle breakdowns, maintenance checks and energy-saving upgrades with clear communication, practical advice and local response times that suit your site.

Book a Call-Out

When to book a call-out

Book a visit as soon as you notice temperature drift, ice build-up, unusual noise, high power use or a system that keeps tripping. If a cold room is warming up, a chiller is short-cycling, or product is at risk, do not wait for the fault to spread through the rest of the system.

We support businesses and properties in Gqeberha, Uitenhage, Despatch, Jeffreys Bay, Graaff-Reinet and Port Alfred. Sites near the coast often deal with salty air and moisture, while inland locations can see heavy dust and voltage issues during load-shedding, so the cause is not always the same from one area to another.

How to request a visit

Send the key details first so we can plan the right technician and parts. The more accurate the information, the faster we can get to site and start checking the system.

  • Site name and suburb or town
  • Best contact person and mobile number
  • Equipment type: cold room, chiller, freezer room or other cooling plant
  • Fault description, including temperatures, alarms or leaks
  • Whether the job is urgent, planned maintenance or an inspection
  • Any access notes, parking limits or after-hours requirements

You can email hello@nvirocool.co.za with the details and we will take it from there. If the fault is active, include what the unit is doing right now, for example not starting, running nonstop, or dropping product temperature too slowly.

What happens after your booking

Once we receive your request, our team checks the job type, location and urgency. Ayabulela Ndlovu coordinates service bookings, while Yolanda Jacobs keeps client communication moving and lets you know what to expect before the visit. For larger retrofit or audit work, Ruan Smit and Nokulunga Dlamini may also be involved so the right testing is done the first time.

On site, Siyabonga Mthembu handles technical diagnosis and repair work, from leak detection and control checks to coil cleaning and temperature monitoring setup. If the equipment needs a longer repair or a staged shutdown, we will explain the next steps clearly so your team can plan around it.

Services we can cover on a call-out

Our call-out service can support both urgent repairs and planned work for commercial cooling systems. We work on systems that need quick fault-finding, regular maintenance or changes that reduce running costs and improve temperature stability.

  • Emergency breakdown response
  • Cold room repairs and planned maintenance
  • Chiller servicing and control upgrades
  • Low-GWP gas conversions
  • Leak detection and temperature monitoring
  • Coil cleaning and energy audits

If your site is still operating but using more electricity than it should, a call-out can also be used for an energy check. A small fault, like a dirty coil or weak sensor, can push power use up quickly and put strain on the whole system.

Preparing your site before we arrive

A little preparation helps us work faster and keeps the visit safe. If there is stored stock in the cold room, make sure staff know what can be moved if the system needs to stay open for testing. For rooftop or plant room equipment, keep access clear and make sure keys, permits or access codes are ready.

  • Keep the unit accessible and remove obstacles around panels
  • Note recent changes, power interruptions or alarm messages
  • Tell us if the site has generator changeover or load-shedding procedures
  • Have a point person available for questions during the visit

On coastal sites, check that corrosion or moisture damage has not been left to worsen after a storm. On dusty sites, ask your team to avoid sweeping debris into open plant areas before we arrive, as that can affect fault finding.

After the visit and next steps

After the inspection or repair, we will explain what was found, what was fixed and whether any follow-up is needed. If the system needs parts, a repeat visit or a staged retrofit, we will give practical advice so you can decide on the best way forward for your site and budget.

For ongoing equipment, we can set up planned maintenance, temperature monitoring checks and servicing intervals that suit your operating hours. That helps reduce surprise breakdowns, especially where product value is high or the site runs through long power interruptions. It is better to catch a worn component before it stops the whole room.

Questions we get asked

How quickly can you attend a refrigeration breakdown?

Response time depends on your location, the urgency of the fault and current call-out load. Urgent breakdowns are prioritised first, especially where stock loss is a risk.

Can I book planned maintenance as well as emergency repairs?

Yes. We handle both planned maintenance and emergency work, so you can book routine servicing, inspections or repairs through the same contact point.

Do you cover towns outside Gqeberha?

Yes. We service Gqeberha, Uitenhage, Despatch, Jeffreys Bay, Graaff-Reinet and Port Alfred, with support across the Eastern Cape depending on the job.
